Is it a legit term I haven’t heard for aro/ace/agender folk? Or do you mean like a Ken doll (no titties, no nipples, no genitalia)

What I’m asking is, if you have none of those sexual urges coloring your consciousness, would you find romcoms boring?

Gotcha, that’s a reasonable question. I’m not able to answer, unfortunately 😭

I do have a friend who’s aro/ace and has zero interest in sex, but they’ve written a lot of romance. It’s not their main thing but they still seem to really enjoy it. I think well-developed characters can make any kind of goal interesting, even if it’s not one you’d ever have. I don’t know how many romcoms bother with that level of development, though.

The only thing I can think is that OP is considering getting everything cut off/out and not taking hormone replacements, but is concerned that no longer having “normal” levels of hormones for either gender might negatively affect their crippling addiction to RomComs and RomCom accessories.

Just wanted to say that you shouldn’t be getting downvoted.

Your question is quite unusual, but it appears to be written in good faith. Please don’t be put off from making further posts.

Are we talking people who have had their gonads removed and don’t have any hormone replacement? Are we talking people born completely without any system for producing sex related hormones? Are we including around/ace people? I feel like there’s a lack of definition but I’m not 100% sure it matters.

Not being part of this group, I’m just going to take a shot in the dark and say it depends on the person. You don’t necessarily need to feel romantic attraction to a person to empathize with characters in a fictional story. You also don’t even need to empathize with the characters to find the concept interesting. Just like folks who do have sexual or romantic feelings, some will enjoy those types of stories and some won’t.

No none of it. All the glands and appliances removed. Which leads us to my question.

Lacking all that, would romcoms be boring?

I’m not a violent person, but I like war films. I would think that the same logic could be applied.
