We never really had much of a culture so far as I can tell. How can one form when society’s rotting around you and everyone’s constantly shitting on you about avocado toast or whatever?

American culture is all retail based, a lot of chuds are obsessed with brands. Society tries to link our self identity and culture about what clothes you wear and cars you drive.

I have seen people say their life goals are to be wearing certain brands by certain ages. I’ve heard people bragging about the brand of cars that showed up to their yard sale. Ask a guy in a lifted truck why he drives a chevy and not a ford.

A hollow existence, wrapped around keeping up with the Joneses.

Yeah American culture is defined by media, fashion, brands, etc popular at a given time. It’s all consumerism, even the sub-cultures revolve around just particular types of consumerism.
