How long do you hold the smoke in your lungs? Does it change depending on what sort of mechanism for smoking you use? Do you believe in the old adage, “if you don’t cough, you don’t get off”? Tell me about your breathing habits when smoking.
As long as feels natural.
Contrary to popular opinion - inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale.
As you’re exhaling vapor (or smoke I guess) your body has processed as much of what you can inhale… but then you inhale again and it’d be pretty weird to assume that whatever is left is exempt, especially if you’re rebreathing in some of what you’re exhaling.
But if you really want to get higher and be more efficient with your herb switch to vaporization. Heat much above 450F just completely eviscerate the molecules that are working to get us high, so the best thing you can do for your herb is to vaporize it between 360F-420F (or 445f only with high airflow convection vapes), get mid-sized inhales and rebreath them 3-4 times gently. For someone with a low tolerance this will get them noticeably more stoned from “a single hit” since you’re getting ~<85% of what you would from smoking the same thing.
Bonus: vaporization is decarboxylation so you get to use the vaped herb as edibles
Preach it! When you’re smoking weed, you’re turning perfectly good THC into carcinogens and carbon monoxide. Vape for the win! It’s far less harsh on the lungs!
Any other tips for someone with insanely high tolerance? I mainly smoke out of a volcano at 400° and e dab rig at 420°
I think the only thing we can do to regulate our tolerance outside of taking a break at this stage is to wait as long into the day as you can before you start. I usually try and wait at least 2 hours after I wake up.
Concentrates can significantly raise your tolerance as well, so I’ll tend to prioritize vaping and using concentrates when I need a reset/heavier oain management. Since vaping is more full spectrum it can help get you CBD compounds which can help when you feel like you’re not getting stoned.
Unfortunately outside of waiting longer into the day or taking a break entirely this is about all I’ve got lol. But I’ve got over a decade of daily use coming along and I still get pretty stoned :)
I vary, but often I do five-second holds. Not so long that I completely asphyxiate myself, but I’m a bit skeptical of the idea that THC absorbs instantaneously the instant it enters the lungs. Takes a small amount of time, 5 seconds is plenty.
That’s a myth, though good advice for the “I don’t get high” crowd. If the smoke enters your lungs the vast majority of thc gets absorbed instantly. At most, a second is all that’s needed.
The problem is for the people who don’t fully inhale, and the smoke never reaches their lungs. Telling them to “hold it in” usually gets them to take a deeper breath. It’s not needed if you actually fully inhale.
As a long time smoker I always believed the longer you hold it in the better. I just found out within the last year or so that it’s a myth. I’ve since changed the way I smoke which has resulted in a lot less coughing lol
I don’t smoke it anymore, I just bake a (hard) cake once a month and nibble on it til it’s gone. It’s good to be able to breath again after fifteen years of daily smoking.
Do you have a recipe or a name I can search? “Hard cake” does not bring up anything interesting. I like edibles but am not a frequent user and would like something I can store.
I’m afraid I don’t really have a recipe at hand, I just make a basic cake batter off the top of my head. Something like maybe 125g flour, 100ml oat-milk, 1 egg, 100g sugar, 100g (hash-)butter, a few pinches of baking powder, a little salt. Mix it all together and bake it at 150°C until it’s very, very dry. So it becomes “hard” cake. I’ve tried using less liquids in the batter but I’ve found it easier to just let the cake bake longer until it has the preferred dryness. This has the added benefit of decarboxylating the good stuff further.
Don’t forget to decarboxylate your hash/weed before you use it so you maximize it’s potential.
I can’t speak to how long this will ultimately be edible but the last one was very dry and lasted about a month. I kept it in the fridge for most of the time but I don’t know if that’s really that useful. You could always just make a regular cake or any recipe you find online and freeze the result in the end. Just make sure to decarb your herbs and mix it well with the butter.
In this cake I’d typically use about 20g hash - but I’m experienced, you might want to use much, much less.
Thanks a lot! So after baking it should be kind of like biscuits/crackers?
Yeah, kind of. Don’t expect it to taste well. But, and I cannot stress this enough, if you don’t go too high on the temperatures so the good stuff evaporates you can do any recipe you like. I just found out that I don’t really enjoy the taste of hashcake (with weed it’s a little more tolerable for me) so I’ve tried to make the most potent little brick so that I don’t have to eat much to get flying.
It surely tastes better than anxiety. I know any recipe works, I’ve done brownies, but the idea of a cake that you can keep for a month is revolutionary to me. I’ve tried making cannabis honey as something that’s easy to consume and has long shelf life, but it had no potency.
That’s true, anxiety is worse. :-D
Honey is very interesting, I did not know that was possible. You can make your own oil with somehow dissolving the weed in alcohol and that’s easily shelfable - but I haven’t tried that yet myself.
Honey is pretty simple, but as I said, it didn’t work for me. But maybe I did something wrong: https://wayofleaf.com/cannabis-and-cbd/cannabis-honey-benefits And at that temperature, the honey loses all its nutritional values, so getting anything but the cheapest supermarket stuff would be a waste.
