I couldn’t give less of a shit what people who are still on Reddit think of me. They lost whatever argument they might make by still being on Reddit. I hope they enjoy Google scraping their stupid comments for money.
Not arguing the uselessness of opinions about mods, especially on reddit. That said…
You do realize that google, and everyone else, scrape the hell out of lemmy right? This shit is 100% public and the nature of federation means that even if some instances officially have some rules against scraping, it just has to be federated to an instance that doesn’t. Only reason the fediverse isn’t talked about more in terms of use as training data is that it has significantly less content, not because it isn’t being used.
Steve Huffman is a pissy piggy boy because he killed the API (just to sell this now exclusive data for cheap), like his hero Muskie did. Many of us ended up here not because of our data being sold, but because he gated how we can use the platform, besides other weird decisions. There’s no monopoly on hoarding Lemmy’s data, it belongs to everyone, and everyone can scrap it. What irks me and others is that he claimed it as his property, what is probably right by their EULA, but hasn’t been done in years Reddit existed.
Who said anything about my beliefs? Way to totally expose all your arguments as just being personal attacks you dreamt about or “heard or reddit.”
I was referencing what people who are actually extreme on this platform sometimes actively promote. You need to stop judging people so quickly by what you think you have understood if you would like to be persuasive.
Edit: Also still waiting for a link to that post on reddit.
I personally do not have any issues or beef with flying squid. They seem like a decent user but I have also gotten used to the crazy takes here. My point is that we should be more aware of beliefs and echo chambers.
Welp, that one user on reddit just cannot handle opinions that differ from their own. Nor can they clearly state what squid said that upset them. Sounds like that user only wants to hear their own opinion on things, which is really what creates an echo chamber. Sad for them to miss out on all sorts of cool stuff.
But I completely agree with you about fighting the echo chamber effect. However, that does not mean anyone should be careful about putting thier opinions out there, that would just result in a different type of echo chamber. Blocks should only be for trolls, and not for differing opinions.
That is some insane copium. They could have used the Star Trek website mods instead if they actually cared to be truthful. Or the Lem.ee or however you spell it ones.
Careful as you have scared off a few users. On r/Lemmy you were named as one of the mods and users who were politically extreme.
Not that Reddit holds that much weight but it is something to keep in mind.

Not OP.

I realize that Google didn’t pay Lemmy creators millions for the “privilege.”
Reddit got paid for YOUR words.
Wow. Please link to that thread. Squid might not be a moderate, but he would only be extreme to those who support genocide and other fascist crap.
Well he isn’t the most extreme and is actually fairly reasonable by Lemmy standards. I know that others have complained so I figured I’d bring it up.
Also calling anything you disagree with fascist and genocide is really fair. There is always another side to the story.

I think mods should avoid having opinions

I just think alternative media always attracts the extremes. Look at Truth social and Obysee.
