It looks very labor intensive. 2 guys cutting, 2 guys holding up this big cloth so the grass would not fly on the street and one guy with the leaf blower trying to blow the grass from the sidewalk.
Do they hold up those big cloths to shield the street from the grass in your country too?
No, here they blow it directly into your car as you drive by (US)
Only when it’s wet. Otherwise it just falls on the street.
No, it’s just one guy on a sit mower. It collects it as it goes or leaves it on the ground.
On larger roads they use a “roadside mower” which is a tractor with a robot arm trimmer that leaves the grass in the ditch. Still just one guy.
The latest development is to spread “wild” flowers instead of grass in the roadside. Supposedly to increase biodiversity, but I think it’s mostly virtue signalling. A roadside next to heavy traffic isn’t a great habitat for insects anyway. They also used one-season flower seeds, so they will have to seed it every year…which makes no sense for this purpose. On the positive side, it looks pretty and hopefully creates some awareness of the issue.
I’ve never seen that while living in SK, but there’s not a lot of grass on the side of the roads either. The greens are generally left for the mountains, parks, and whatever is north of DMZ…
Why don’t they just do what the Google Headquarters do and get goats to eat the grass?
