So the RE has forwarded the call fee invoice to us from the plumber. I expected it, because it was my washing machine.

It’s $500. FIVE HUNDRED! For the guy to diagnose the issue in less than half an hour.

Lucky I got my tax return today, paid it in full and did some ass-kissing in the email back to the RE. Like, plumbers have to do a lot of gross things, of course they should be compensated appropriately, but he just moved my fridge and washing machine and walked around with his detector device. Lol. He made bank.

It might be worth calling and letting the plumber know that the RE has passed the charge to you - sometimes they charge crazy fees because they know they can. Total shit practice, but maybe it’s worth a try?

plumber is RE’s brother in law*

I don’t know this but knowing the ethical nature of RE’s it would not surprise me

Haha nah not this time. Definitely the case at my old Epping place, but not here. This plumber is from a company, seems rather large when I googled.

I already paid it this morning and I cannot be bothered asking about it tbh. I could probably negotiate it down, but I just want it to be done and to focus on drying out the carpet and skirting board to assess repairs.

It’s a $500 lesson to not freak out and check my own appliances before calling anyone lol!
