Hey, that’s my line
But energy is free capitalists don’t give free shit, confusion ensues
How the tables turn huh, not too long ago the US and friends were settling shop in China and Taiwan, now the shoe is on the other foot
There is a lot to unpack here. I’d first reiterate my first assessments, I think that they mostly hold true. Furthermore the guy does some weird stuff, when he mentions there is no good schools only good students, it is quite strange, if you look at research projects and other kinds of outputs such as patents and other kinds of production, I think that there is something to be said about good schools. If you only look at standardized scores, could be that the scores measure things that don’t show the whole picture.
When he talks about separating the smart kids from the not so smart kids, I get confused, because how the hell he has any idea of the percentage of the smarter kids, at the same time that there is no way of separating them? And to that point if the problem is that there is not enough staff or enough rooms to teach separated classes(assuming that that would be preferable) then the point that spending more in schools is only true if you say that this is not one way of spending the money in the schools.
Again about what he says about spending more money wouldn’t fix much, that is quite debatable, it depends a lot of what do you want out of the education system, and quite importantly where the money goes what is done with it.
Another point that I think he misses, is that he does not show evidences from other countries that spending more in education does not work, and it might as well do, and investigate why it works elsewhere and not the US(which I suspect to be true).
I do agree that external factors are expressively responsible for the difference in performance of the students. And I would urge him to delve deep into that, and probably the state should invest in what can be done to handle those things, and I believe that quite a lot of them are related with parents having time to spend with their kids in formative years, and that is quite a discussion about workers rights, wages and working hours, and maybe that would have a lot of impact over education, and that is one point I can stay behind.
Overall my take of the guy is that he for one reason or another is against government spending more money on schools and kinda believes that some people are inherently better than other people, which I think are quite concerning points, because through all the faults education is a pillar of any nation, and a better education must be a priority and investing in an education system is a good thing, having a superior education that comes with debt shackles for the rest of one’s life is not, and so forth, I think that a lot of the issues he points are endemic to the USA, and probably would benefit from a thorough reform of the whole system top to bottom.
Yeah sounds about right, will all respect to comrade critical resist, not the best post, appreciated the message but it’s quite long to say not that much, and further more the guy mentioned as the golden fleeced lamb seems to not be all that powerful in doing as such. I don’t mean my criticism in any mean spirit just sharing my perception about it.
I don’’ t get the connection of the fable and the news.
My good comrade, I like to help but honestly I’m not interested in reading so much said about a guy that says that education doesn’t work, which is obviously false, could be that the american model of education does not work, which I would tend to agree, but if you look at China for instance you’ll see much more evidence that education has a profound effect on a society. So I’ll make you an offer, give me a summary of what you understand as the point of this guy to be, and I’ll say what I think about that. Does that look good to you?

Here you go, things are getting pretty bad with ai, and don’t doubt that it has happened plenty of times before, there is plenty of evidence of misleading sudies paid by big corporations saying this and that about some thing or another that is completely false, I think in recent memory in the US there’s been a big thing about downplaying the effects of sugar in health a few decades ago. So yeah
I would refer you to this post and my comment on it, cause I think it has a lot to do with it. But my two cents about it, is that a lot of post modern tendencies lead to poor methodologies and analysis of many subjects, such as those under scrutiny by this project. But to my eyes that shows a bad execution of a crucial field of study, I have the firm belief that critical analysis of how many minorities are treated, and how society discriminates against, deep dives on the reasons and who benefits from that oppression are all extremely valuable points, but people can do it poorly.
And as a last point, that ia hardly an exclusive issue to the social sciences field if you research the absolute madness that got published, specially after generative ai became popular, in the fields of biology and engineering, you’ll be shocked. So tldr people messed up that don’t mean the subjects of the mess up are useless.
Yes yes we are not fleeing we anticipate imense russian forces therefore we are wasting their time not being there
It’s not even true that their army is bad, the ground israeli troops are getting shafted in lebanon and they had a really hard time on ground invasion on rafah as well
I don’t fear war ai right now, the point that scares me is US to stir up war in Korea (again) just to gather more data to train their models. And here are some sources, nothing conclusive but it is quite suggestive https://www.palantir.com/platforms/aip/defense/

My reading of this(now we’re into full speculation mode) is that all this ai training madness on Ukraine is the US both realizing that the eastern block might be better armed them them, as well as the US trying to use the headstart they have in advanced machine learning hardware, via nvidia and stuff to try to get the military upper hand via ai before it’s too late. I think this is more out despair than sound strategy, but this whole analysis might be wishful thinking leading me to think the US is in worse shape than it really is.
I’ve actually heard from pretty respectable folks, that one, an possibly quite an important one as it is, of the goals of NATO in Ukraine is to gather training data for war/propaganda oriented AI, via the palantir company. And apparently same goes for Israel, so for this purpose who wins is not relevant just that the fight rages on.
And lastly and quite concerning palantir apparently has expanded towards south Korea, which is quite alarming if the trend continues.
Yeah I think that Russia will complete their control on Donetsk oblast, and maybe cross the river on the southern oblasts that they control half of it, and possibly just stand on the defense or slow down the attacks even further, so either Ukraine makes a silent armistice in the form of just not attacking anymore, allowing those territories to be more and more assimilated to Russia, or they’ll keep limping along until there is nothing else left in the tank
It’s easy to ignore cumulative effects of what we are already used too, just bear(pun intended) that in mind
After they lost vughledar (not sure about the spelling) things got extra bad for Ukraine, that city was a very strong fortification, on elevated ground that ensured a lot of surveillance of the surrounding areas and as consequence of the strength of that portion was a crucial point of the supply line for the battle front of two neighboring cities. Russia took almost a year to take the city down, and the consequence is quite dire to Ukraine for not only they lost such a valuable position, but Russia, naturally, now has control of a very strong defensive position that allows powerful support of an extensive area. If you look at the map, from vughledar so Zaporozhye Ukraine will have a hard time defending, and that is no small area.
I try to safeguard your sanity comrade but you refuse to heed my advice
It was a social media post
Comrade Kirby where the hell are you spending your time. What kind of discord server are getting yourself into
