Maybe if places actually used potato dough it would better.
I’ve seen either pizza dough, gravy, cheese curds + optional meat(bacon or donair usually) or what’s essentially a poutine dumped onto pizza dough, so fries, curds and gravy.
I’ve seen people eat them. That’s the best review I can give.

I wonder what a true stereotypical Canadian pizza would have? Poutine? Maple syrup? Pickled cheese?

Isn’t the whole thing about poutine that it looks like kinda off-putting slop of random stuff but tastes amazing?
We do have pizza with spaghetti on it. You’ve got the Québecois to thank for that one. And yes, before you ask, it’s called pizzaghetti.

Donair pizza. It’s not really canadian, it’s only served in nova scotia really, but it’s godly.
