    That said, the assessment seems sound to me. It’s the first admission I’ve seen in the west that Russia and China really do have a deep strategic partnership.

        I’m not doing a bit and I’m not a liberal. Being an adult with a functioning brain I’m capable of reading things and understanding whether they make sense as opposed to just having a knee jerk reaction based on who says it.

            I mean it’s pretty obvious who wrote it. There’s no conspiracy here. The very fact that it was effectively written by the state department is precisely what makes it interesting. Up to now, the US kept running the narrative the that Russia and China have some hidden rivalries and that they’re never going to actually have a solid partnership because of that. This is the first direct admission that it is in fact happening. And that is useful for understanding how the US will behave towards China going forward.
