More than 20 years later, Sarah Michelle Gellar is considering a return to ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.
Bills ain’t gonna pay themselves
Ehhh, it could work, I just don’t know that it would have the same degree of fan response.
The concept is good, and there’s already plenty of extended universe out there, which means there’s room to move forward in time and tell a good story of a slayer that makes it into her forties and is still fighting. Depending on how much of the original cast would come back, there could be a lot of cool shit to do.
Problem: repeat enemies can’t really come back. Neither can Spike or Angel because, well the actors just couldn’t make it work at their age. There’s only so much age you can erase when the character isn’t supposed to age at all. So you’d be kinked limited in the use of recurring characters from the original series. Since there’s a huge fanbase that’s going to whine like crazy that they aren’t there…

Agreed. Case in point: the aged Data in Picard did not work at all
They could do something like wax dummy for a death scene or CGI de-aging. It can be expensive but I could see it happening just for one scene to say they were included in the new show but also explain them away after 1 scene and not have them show up again. Or maybe reincarnation?
Yeah, I hate being kinked limited. Like, just let me experience things, ya know?
OK, I’d love a reboot but of all the Buffy actors she’s one of the ones I care least about seeing again. Give us modern day Buffy with charisma carpenter in some major role (maybe as the mom or watcher), and Alyson Hannigan somewhere (elder witch or maybe a watcher, you can even have her casually mention once having been friends to a slayer). SMG is a terrible actress and Buffy often was amazing despite her
If this is a way to bring back Angel then I’m in.
