I assumed it was just “hire more LGBTQIA+ prison guards!” so-true

It’s worse than that. What I’ve seen recently because of federation is “(verbal performative) support for disadvantaged people as long as they maintain a successful small business in a disadvantaged area for no less than three years and aren’t anywhere to the left of Bernie Sanders!”

hahahaha I’ll actually try to explain this. As many people have explained we consider both conservatives and liberals “liberals” for a number of historical and political reasons. So we just complain about “libs” and it’s really just referring to, pretty much everyone in the political landscape who’s not a socialist. We especially like when chuds stumble upon our site and try to make some epic “trigger the libs” post, and we just call them a liberal until they throw a temper tantrum about how they’re not.

There is a bit of confusion I guess because many of us are Americans and so will switch between using that liberal/conservative American political dichotomy, where liberal refers to social progressives and conservative refers to social conservatives, and using “liberal” in it’s more historical and political sense, pretty frequently. It’s really just context I guess.

The rise of fascism in America is extremely concerning for us, but because our culture came out of the so-called “dirtbag left” of 2016 we tend to be pretty irreverent about most things. We also consider liberals (yes, liberals in your sense of the word, referring to Democrats and other non-socialist social progressives) to be complicit in the rise of fascism due to their focus on things like bipartisanship and compromise. We don’t believe there can be any compromise with fascists and believe they should be opposed everywhere they pop up, so usually won’t give any praise to Democrats who seem content to sit back and talk about “bipartisanship” while, as you say, fascism rises. That’s getting into it a little without going on too much. There’s more, like how both parties are bourgeois parties and so there is little difference between them which is also why we won’t praise liberals (again, your sense).

Also, the only people who got mad about Barbie here were people who decried it as an elaborate toy commercial, and there was actually a lot of praise for the movie on our site.

edit: I think you also have to understand that most of the people on Lemmy that we disagree with right now are liberals, there’s not a whole lot of chuds, which is why we’re so extremely focused on liberals. Many of us also thought we were going to federate and finally be posting together with fellow travelers, like the folks over at lemmygrad, but then the reddit exodus happened and Lemmy became saturated with Reddit liberalism, so we’re also focused on liberals because of that.
