I assume this is normal. Anyone else been through this? Taking a few weeks off, and a few days into it, I havent really eaten a whole lot, and its hard to stay asleep.

Yes. It’s likely normal for all of us. It happened to me as well when I quit booze. And junk. And cigs. And pills. And coke. And so on and so on.

You may not be physically dependent on the booze, but if you consume anything regularly and then abstain/taper from it you’re going to feel some negative effects. Sleep, appetite and mood being the big ones.

It’ll level off. I promise. I know it’s absolutely no real help to your situation, but you’re getting back to ‘normal’ and it just takes some time.

Thanks comrade! I’m not feeling too bad otherwise, as I said above, I was in a great mood all day and I spent all of yesterday out and about outside. Just not eating much, that’s the biggest thing.

  • Definitely, I cut my drinking by like 95% a few months ago and the appetite problem still hasn’t really resolved. I’ve lost at least 20lbs since I stopped drinking and I hoped to lose 5. I really struggle to get in enough calories a day.

Thanks for the input! If I can keep this up, hopefully I’ll lose a few too! Im not feeling too bad alp things considered. I’m not really irritable or anything, and I was in a really good mood all day. Just notice that i haven’t been eating much lately.

I’d recommend trying to get an eating schedule. Your body is used to getting a bunch of calories from alcohol.

Remember to drink water too. :/ I found water somehow felt super dry going down during my major reductions.

Yeah, your brain chemistry is literally different now. Try to eat fresh fruit. It goes down easy, it’s good for your digestion, and has lots of vitamins and such. Scarf down a banana every so often and it’ll help you feel better even if your appetite’s still down.
