This is probably talking about the Enhanced Editions of the original games done by Beamdog. Tl;dr they’re good.
They added a few companions, including an edgelord Blackguard orc, Dorn. The new characters can feel a little xbox360 Bioware in a classic Bioware game, so it’s understandable if some people don’t like them, but they’re perfectly fine. You can easily ignore them after their initial introductions in the game.
G@mers also got mad about the new Beamdog created expansion that’s set between BG1 and BG2 because it has a cleric vendor that explains her name if you ask her about it.
