I just broke my rule and preordered Armored Core VI, 23 hours before release. It’s also the first full price $60 game i’ve bought in probably ten years. I’m getting the shame and loathing out of the way rn so i can enjoy tomorrow

Imo the no pre-order rule doesn’t need to apply to Steam. Their refund policy is so generous that if the game turns out to be broken and horrible you can just get a refund.
They’ll basically give you a refund for any reason within 2 hours of gametime, and often even after that with a good reason. I got a refund on one game after 2 hours because I found out it gave me motion sickness after a long session.
I think it’s actually the EU’s refund policy, and Steam was forced to do it if they wanted to keep doing business there.
I’ve deffo refunded games bc it took two hours to get the controls set up, make a character, and then I still hadn’t gotten through the tutorial.
