i feel like there is always a certain type of trans woman that is allowed to be visible. gotta wear a dress and a lot of makeup, and i have even heard from some trans actresses that they have been asked to lower their voices to be more visibly trans. and of course we all know how trans women in porn are asked to forgo taking their meds for months for shoots.
i of course love dresses but rarely wear makeup. i conform to many things but still have many signs of nonconformity, and its weird that even a small nudge away from the trope isn’t visible on the big screen.

I uh, didn’t know that. Why would they ask that, is it so their junk is bigger? But wouldn’t that also make their breasts smaller? I thought that was a lot of the appeal (to their cis audience). I haven’t heard much about it, but sadly it doesn’t surprise me. Do you have an article/video about it you’d recommend to me?
It’s for… Fluid dynamics? I know people in the industry that have said this to me, but I’m sure you could Google around for the sentiment I feel like it’s well known?
Ahh, that makes sense. I had forgotten about that. I’m good, I just wondered if there was some big expose piece I had missed, or if linking to it would be easier. Thank you.

Porn fetish of “lesser men” and “lesser women”, no one masturbates because they like diversity, same thing with pornography featuring arabs, has to be a dark brown woman wearing hijab.
hollywood thinks all butches are skinny white women with pixie cuts. studs are no where to be seen.

I don’t have the energy to start a back and forth so I hope you’ll understand why I’m saying this. I really don’t want to see trans people depicted as conventionally unattractive on television right now. We still have to convince the world that we’re capable of being attractive in the first place. There’s a strong presumption that trans = ugly and I really struggle with that as someone who places a high degree of personal importance on achieving beauty.
I know that’s a toxic standard but could some other group please challenge it first? We’ve got enough on our plate.

I’d love to see that too. As long as it’s a global change and cis actors are included.

I’m not really a huge TV person so this isn’t quite the same thing but it’s something that’s turned me off the new Baldur’s Gate 3: all the characters are just too shiny for me. It’s something I really appreciate about disco elysium for having their characters looking like etc, the art style all leaves very little room for conventionally attractive characters (indeed, it’s a conscious decision by the designers that the lead duo is supposed to be ‘pretty ugly’)
I will not stand for this disrespect for these beautiful lads
They are deeply based but when I was just getting into the game the art style made everyone seem kinda grotesque in a really good way :)
they seemed like regular people, it was a nice change of pace

im reading this book rn and i instantly thought of this too lmao
There’s a community theater in my neighborhood that put on shows once a month when it wasn’t a zillion degrees outside. All those actors were normie af. We’ve also got a local wrestling trope that is extremely normal looking.
If you want people that look like you doing art, you can find it.
I ike
We can either cast lesbian characters that look like them or they can make themselves look like Catra and Adora.
