i was wondering what death rates were for unvaccinated people, but this document seems to indicate the chance of death is only slightly higher if unvaccinated. So that’s interesting. I thought the disparity would still be big.
Edit: looks like the disparity is now with hospitalizations more than death
at this point it’s a difference between natural immunity and vaccine-induced immunity. almost nobody is getting it for the first time, so almost everyone has some natural immunity. plus, the newer strains are supposedly less acutely harmful than initial strains
also, reporting methods are only getting worse. with a shortage of covid tests, there are less confirmed cases, so many covid deaths are reported as “pneumonia”
I didn’t go through that document, but there’s also the question of what it means to be vaccinated. Like if you got vaccinated in 2021 that’s probably not doing a whole lot for you now. The graph at the top is comparing unvaccinated to at least one booster shot. I got my first booster at the end of 2021, and I know some people got it earlier in the fall. That’s probably not doing a whole lot now. Less and less people have getting boosters afaik.

I’d love to get another, but my insurance won’t cover it. It has been 11 months and I still can’t get another, fuck
