Maybe you should read the owner manual or even the article that you are commenting on. The doors can be manually opened but ONLY from the inside of the car. Not something you can expect a 20 month old child to have the capability to operate while being strapped into their car seat.

No physical key lock on outside is a major design flaw.
Even our newest cars with distance-sensing remotes have one door with a key lock, which I check occasionally to make sure it works.
