If I’m reading it right, he’s saying we SHOULD stigmatize that sort of thing.

Edit: I see that Mudpuppy was talking about point #2, not #4.

That being said, he says Waiter not Waitress. Kind of putting words into the post to assume it’s about hitting on waitresses.

Yeah, my reading of the tweet is that Luigi thinks if people would get used to interacting with people through being served by a person instead of a conveyor belt, maybe people would socialise more and couple up more? Which is still reactionary but not super weird

Marx talks about how markets create material relations between people (via markets), and thus a “social relation” between commodities. The Adjuster falls into this fetish.

Whence, then, arises the enigmatical character of the product of labour, so soon as it assumes the form of commodities? Clearly from this form itself. The equality of all sorts of human labour is expressed objectively by their products all being equally values; the measure of the expenditure of labour power by the duration of that expenditure, takes the form of the quantity of value of the products of labour; and finally the mutual relations of the producers, within which the social character of their labour affirms itself, take the form of a social relation between the products.

You’re talking about different bullet points, I’m pretty sure that mudpuppy is referring to the second bullet point, and that you’re you’re referring to the 4th bullet point.

It’s extremely funny to compare this to the menswear guy doing threads about how the modern Japanese(or at least Tokyo) urban environment is the only place small scale organic fashion culture can thrive anymore.

Also conveyor belt sushi is a societal plague worthy of one of 5 bullet points on your stupid little list? And the reason its bad is you aren’t chatting directly to a food service employee? Not just a weirdo but a really fucking stupid and annoying weirdo.

actual human interaction with a waiter

I go to restaurants like this somewhat regularly and I don’t think it’s done anything to improve my mental health or social life?

Judging by all the other stuff this guy is into I bet his reasoning is that he’s completely brainwormed on pickup artist redpill shit and thinks that the waiter interaction will give men chances to apply that bullshit and get laid.

Or a funnier alternative is he’s brainwormed on like trad romance media with like relationships starting out of being a regular at a diner or whatever.

Calling Don Quixote a grocery store is like calling Costco a hotdog joint.

I don’t think they had sex stuff at Donkey

I would have sooner compared conveyor belt sushi/Matsuya/matsuya-likes replacement for fast food as opposed to a replacement for a sit down restaurant (of which there are plenty) and therefore erring you towards socializing

If there were a bunch of eSports cafes I must have missed them - especially in Akihabara (where you can find a really nice climbing gym where people talk to you).

The elementary schools I saw had very large outdoor facilities and after school athletics

The history and current events of the Yakuza isn’t my bag - I also here weird things about cishet relationships in Japan, so I guess that this one gets a tentative thumbs up from me

I would sure as fuck love more martial arts available in Japan. I had trouble finding judo while I visited. I think you can find temples fucking everywhere as well as onsen.

I don’t know comrade, Luigi’s Mansion sounds like a bit of a tourist.

Seems like he’s not calling for a return to shintoism, but just a return to a culture that isn’t poisoned by capitalism. I dunno I feel like I could see most of those things being said on hexbear without people batting an eye. He’s not against immigration, he’s saying that Japan has a systemic issue that would continue even if immigration was allowed. Don’t know if I agree, but I can follow the logic. He’s saying the modern urban environment is ass, which we have an entire comm dedicated to saying. It is ass.

edit: okay I saw his twitter and it’s ass

I really feel like even in this example tweet you really have to reach to argue this. Yes, all his complaints boil down to a core causation by capitalism, but that goes for at least half of any reactionarys political beliefs.

Several of the bullet points are just actually repeating dumb stereotypes, he probably only knows about Don Quixote because of Yakuza. He dedicates a whole bullet point to the societal consequences of conveyor belt sushi.
