Should be here in a few days. Anyone ever fucked with one? My loftiest aspiration for it is to be able to play Smash Melee on the go, if I know how to set up Retroarch on my phone will I be ok with the Rp3?

I have the Pocket 2 (maybe 2+ - I dunno). But I’ve been rocking the Miyoo for the last year and it’s my go-to for on the go. I never pick up my Retroid.

Theres a launcher app that comes with the RPs that’s pretty good. Learn how to set that up. I’m sure Retro Game Corps has a guide.

    Have fun!

First step should be to get a better SD card. The ones that Anbernic at least ships with aren’t great and have a high failure rate.

I have the repo of roms from reddit saved and can share it when I get back home if you want access to pretty much every game made up until modern gen. Although you won’t be able to run much past PS1.

I haven’t played with any Android based SBC emulators but mine all run a stripped down version of Linux underneath RetroArch and just a snazzy UI on top. I think Android ones are pretty much the same.

The RP3+ should be able to handle everything up to Dreamcast and PSP, both with upscaling. It’s systems like PS2, GameCube or the 3DS where it starts to seriously chug.

You are right. My RG353VS can run some PSP games and the RP3+ has a better chip I believe. I don’t think I tested DC on my 353 though.

I’d love one of these handhelds but can’t justify the cost atm, so I’m currently using a cheap controller with my previous phone as a dedicated emulator. Had to enable some video hack to get SNES audio to stop crackling so it’s not exactly a powerhouse. Duckstation chugs with 3D PS1 games and N64 is out of the question.

If you lurk on the sbcgaming subreddit, occasionally you can find people selling their used ones. And check in Ali for prices. Amazon usually sells these things at a higher price.

Some of the prices are too high imo but you can get an RG35xx for like $60 I think.

Enjoying my rg353vs, very handy for lounging playing something without really feeling like you are committing to getting too “settled in” to a gaming session, easy to pick up and put down

Get a decent SD card, use internet archive to get some rom sets (the set below is a good start for PS1 and older).

    Archive.org/details/tiny-best-set-go

I also used a program called chdman to do some conversion of the compressed ROM files for some systems, probably some of the other roms I had downloaded to fill in some gaps in the sets iirc
