Just to play Ferengi’s Advocate for a moment: at least he was somewhat open minded. He fought Ishka and Leeta, but came around in the end. A few more good influences in his life and he might be willing to invest in a clothes shop for females.

Run by Fashion Lizard, of course.

yeah, there were the breadcrumbs of a decent commentary about an extremist taken out of their echo chamber and shown a genuinely fair society.

God i miss when sci-fi was optimistic about the future… but hey, maybe after WWIII and the eugenics wars we’ll be able to start advancing the political sciences again too…

“What’s this fe-male doing wearing clothes and doing business?!

Honestly, I found the Ferengi sexism weird. You’d think they’d understand how to leverage a woman’s assets and be gross in other ways that actually make for better sales. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Automatic food chewers? And who is going to add the spit? You? no thank you to your cephalopod goo, good sir.

And if you suggest replicated spit I will form a corporation to do a hostile takeover of your commerce sector.

That’s an explanation I’ve seen for why the Romans didn’t find labor-saving devices like Heron’s steam engine to be important. Why should you use a steam engine when you have plenty of slaves?

Ferengi would have sold food chewers.

Their society got past slavery much quicker than humanity

If they can sell Tooth Sharpeners for Latinum, surely you are right and they can make mad profits with food chewers

They totally sell automatic food chewers, there would be a decent amount of Ferengi who dont have a wife or mother to chew their food for them, not all single Ferengi are as open-minded and forward thinking as Rom is.
